Lortadine is a category b drug and is the active ingredient in claritin.  The thing i like about lortadine is it's a tiny 5mg tablet.  It seems to work for me and you can get allerclear from costco super cheap.  I'm talking 500 pills for $10.

Good luck!

I've had to take "claritin" for almost a year now. I was breaking out in hives and no one could figure out why. 1 teeny pill a day and no hives ... and my still-nursing 17 m-o is none the wiser.

my dr switched me to Zyrtec when i told him we were going to try to have a baby.  I would think this would be safe for breast feeding too.  I no longer needed the Zyrtec because we ended up moving  before i got pregnant and was able to stop all of my allergy meds.

You can check with your doctor.

since i was a baby, i've been a true "bubble child" since i have the worst kind of nasal allergies.  so bad, i had to get weekly shots and steroid shots annually.

while pregnant & nursing, i was on benadryl.  well, i was taking benadryl for almost ten years and i was getting too immune to it where is wasn't working.  so i switched to zrytec which works better and is still safe for nursing.

i got it cleared from my DD's pediatrician, my allergist, and internal medicine doctor.  but "they" say, the best allergy drug to take while pregnant/nursing is ALLEGRA.  i tried it and it was too weak for me.

I couldn't surrvive without my Neti Pot.  I still have to take the occasional allergy medicine but using the Neti Pot has cut me back from having 5-6 sinus infections a year (from allergies) to none!  They used to be hard to find but now I think just about any drug store has them as well as Target.

I love a neti pot and I also believe that eating a healthier diet -- lots of raw fruit and veggies (ones that I'm not allergic to) helps and I take alfalfa tabs on days when it's really bad.  At first I was allergic to the alfalfa (it's a grass which is one of my allergies) but my nutritionist said to take just one a day and then work up to ten a day -- makes a huge difference for me.

We also have a whole house air purifier -- an absolute life saver!

Give yourself some steam showers by sitting in the bathroom with the shower on as hot as possible.  Sit as long as you can possibly stand it.  This works wonders in clearing out your nose and chest...

Want natural?  Alfalfa.  Shaklee has it.

I also use a sinus rinse like a Neti pot.
