Have you applied for FAFSA yet?  Often times there are childcare grants you can apply for through the college. Call them and ask if they have any.

Good luck

Hello! I am also a young single mom who does not receive child support and I have been going to school since my daughter was born. I suggest you fill out your FAFSA online for free once you have been accepted into any college that you want to go to. Through my FAFSA I receive my grants and my loans for the year which pay for most of my bills and my school. Then through our office of financial aid at UNC in Greeley I receive an additional $1000 grant a year for childcare as well as an additional loan to cover ALL of my childcare expenses! Yes you do have to pay back the loans but I completely feel that I would never have been able to get through school with out them! Feel free to email beck2624@bears.unco.edu and I would love to talk to you more if you have any more questions!

Not sure where you are going to be attend school, but if by chance it is FRCC in Larimer Cty. There is a single parent program that has support for you as well as child care assistance grants/scholarships.

I second the FAFSA, grants and scholarships.  I'm a single mom to eight but only need care for my little guy 10 months old. I do not get child support either.   I will be starting nursing school at FRCC this fall, but my loans, grants and scholarships are going to pay for school and childcare, also what I will be living off too!

I suggest if you do not get enough money from them the first time go into the financial aid office and discuss your situation with them. I submit a daycare help request form every semester as well as a note from our daycare center stating how much I will be paying.

The best thing for you do is try Project self sufficency. They are a wonderful organization funded by the United Way, only in Northern Colorado. There is an office in both Fort Collins and Loveland. They have scholarships only available to PS-S participants that help you pay for childcare while you go back to school. Its actually a program only for single parents, and their whole purpose is to send you back to school, so that you can get a better job! I've been in the program for about 4 months now and I love it! If you have any questions about please contact me! Check out their website www. ps-s.org

Sorry this is a little off topic, but if you are in need of anything for your kids then you may want to consider coming to the Kid Swap.  No, you don't swap your kids, but you can pick up some free  items that other parents no longer need that may work for you, and you can clean out your house to get rid of things you may not need anymore.  It is a fun experience.

Everything about this event is FREE--anything not taken by participants will be donated Realities for Children.

1)  Bring anything you have in good, working condition that you are ready to pass on to another child or mom (maternity thru age 10).
2)  Have it ORGANIZED in advance--clothing by sex and age (0-3mo, 3-6mo, 6-9 mo, 9-12 mo, 12-2T, 3T...; toys; books; accessories (carseat, slings, highchairs); and shoes.
3) Arrive and sort your stuff onto the appropriate tables and sections
4) Start shopping--take whatever you see that you like; have fun and build community!

Kid Swap - September 26th, 1-3 pm - kids welcome - location: 1300 Riverside Ave, Fort Collins, CO (Inside the community room at the Fort Collins Coloradoan)

so apparently aims didn’t start the award process yet on my fasfa which means i missed out on some grants, im still confused why this happened because i filled it out in April! the lady i talked to in financial aid was ruid and no help at all. she wouldn’t give me an estimate of how much i could get, what grants are still available, how long my fasfa would take or even if i would get any money at all! she said there is no help for child care and that all i could do is register for classes and fasfa would reimburse me but she doesn’t think it will go thru by the last day to drop a class which means if i don’t get any money or enough money im stuck with a 1000 $ plus no way to pay for the books for those classes or the child care while im in those classes so lets just hope fasfa pulls thru! Thank you all for your help! im getting a letter of recommendation for project self sufficiency to get that process started and im going to call 211 to see what else i can do to get some help! project self sufficiency sounds like exactly what i need because i want to go to school so i dont have to work two jobs 6 days a week and using ccap the rest of my life!

I see that you are going to call 2-1-1 which is a great place to start! Good luck to you! One other resource that I'd like to mention is a program called WomenGive through United Way offers some limited child care scholarships for single moms. You can call United Way at 407-7000.
